B&H | APPELLATE LITIGATION

Winning on Appeal

Appeals - whether criminal or civil, state or federal - are complicated and time-consuming cases. There is a complex set of appellate procedures in place that every attorney handling an appeal must master. Just as importantly, your appeals lawyer has to be familiar with a vast body of law so that he or she can properly review and analyze your case in order to spot viable appellate issues. Raising the wrong issues on appeal could be the difference between winning and losing.
Appeals Picture

A skilled advocate combines great research skills and persuasive brief writing to put together an effective appeal.

Once your attorney has identified the right issues for appeal, he or she must be capable of crafting persuasive and authoritative arguments in order to convince the appellate court that you deserve some remedy or relief. For a novice, appeals can be overwhelming and full of pitfalls.

The appellate process is long and involves complicated legal and procedural questions.

At Barney & Hourihane, our lawyers have written appeals in both State and Federal court and have successfully navigated complicated legal and procedural issues in the most high-stakes situations. Our lawyers are skilled advocates who know the appropriate way to present a case.

The appeals process is one of the most important stages in your case. Make sure you have the right lawyer on your side.
